[Fuh-mi] Shikishi - Ai - SOLD OUT

Although it exists in the philosophy of other Budo, "Ai" [愛] is a concept that is quite specific to Aikido. Its most classic translation is "love", and it is popular in the Aikido spirituality because the founder, Morihei Ueshiba, made many references to that concept, as in the famous saying "the source of Budo is God's love".

As you can imagine, the love of God is not the same kind of love that human feels for each other. It is part of a larger concept of absolute and unconditional love, perhaps closer to compassion in English.

Each calligraphy is signed by the artist's seal.

A Shikishi is a traditional Japanese cardboard specially designed for calligraphy, poetry, or autographs. The high-quality paper is laminated to a hardboard with golden edges, giving the paper sturdy & exquisite support. 

This Calligraphy can be purchased with or without a frame. Framed calligraphy can just as easily be hung in a kotonoma or placed on a table or on the floor at the level of the shomen. Convenient during outdoors training for example. If purchased with a frame, a Kiri engraved box will be offered, if purchased without a frame, the Shikishi will come with a free wooden stand (see photos).
